Mini JAC Jackplates Available for Smaller Boats

Bob's Machine Shop has just launched a new line of jack plates for smaller boats with lower-hp engines. The lightweight Mini Jacs feature a smaller footprint and, depending on the model, will handle engines up to 50 hp.

High-performance boaters use jack plates for more speed, better fuel economy and improved boat handling. In recent years, jacks have also become popular with fishermen and pleasure boaters who operate in shallow water.

Mini Jacs come in three models:  The standard version weighs 28 pounds and has same dimensions as BMS's regular jack plates.  It fits the standard BIA bolt pattern and provides 6" of hydraulic lift.

Mini Jacs also come in a narrower width for smaller boats with clamp-on style motors.  This model weighs 25 pounds but still provides 6" of lift.
The smallest Mini Jac weighs only 18 pounds and works well with small, Gheenoe-style boats with clamp-on engines.  This model supplies 4" of hydraulic lift and handles engines up to 40 hp.  All Mini Jacs come with a 5-1/2" setback.

Bob's Machine Shop's jack plates use hi-tech bearings that will not absorb water.  They also feature automobile-type grease fittings - a unique feature among jack plates.  All BMS hydraulic pumps are mounted inside the boat to lower the overall weight on the transom and minimize exposure, especially in saltwater.

The Mini Jacs come with a lifetime warranty.  Retail pricing starts at $765.

1983: A JACKPLATE FOR ALL BOATS

Engineers at Bob's Machine Shop have developed a product that all boaters can use. With a maximum engine rating of 40 hp, BMS's hydraulic kicker jackplate provides slow-speed power for cruisers, auxiliary power for sailboats and trolling power for fishermen.

Sailboat skippers will appreciate the jackplate's ability to reduce engine drag while under sail.
For economy, powerboaters can fire up their kicker for no-wake zones, slow cruising or when navigating shallow backwaters. And, the jack provides anglers with the option of using just one motor for trolling and main power.

The kicker jack is built with 6061 T-6 aircraft-grade aluminum to ensure high strength with minimal weight. All of Bob's Machine's hydraulic jackplate motors are mounted inside the boat for long life and easy maintenance.

An optional wireless control kit allows the skipper to operate the jackplate remotely with a small key fob from anywhere on the boat.

Retail price of Bob Machine Shop's patent pending, hydraulic kicker jackplate is $1,199. It comes with a limited lifetime warranty on the structure. 1955: EIGHT-INCH JACKPLATE NOW AVAILABLE

Previously, boat owners with 6" jackplates needed to add 2" spacers to stay within the boatbuilder's specifications.  The new 8" unit, which can handle engines up to 300 hp, eliminates the need for spacers, which can degrade performance and place extra stress on the transom.
To provide additional strength with minimal weight, the 8" jack uses 6061 T-6, aircraft-grade aluminum.  All hydraulic motors on Bob's jackplates are mounted inside the boat for long life and easy maintenance.  A remote option allows control of the jack from the helm or other area of the boat.

1976: WIRELESS CONTROL ADJUSTS JACKPLATES THE EASY WAY

(Click on Photo for 300-dpi, hi-res Image)

To optimize speed, performance and handling, jackplates are used on most flats, bay, bass and high performance boats. A new wireless remote from Bob's Machine Shop allows owners to adjust the jack's height easily with a key fob from anywhere—on or off the boat. The wireless control is ideal during docking or trailering when there is limited access to the jack's dash-mounted switch. It also allows anglers to raise the main engine remotely from the bow when trolling.

Anglers with towers can conveniently operate their jackplates remotely from any position with the key fob. The wireless control has three components: a waterproof key fob transmitter; a small receiver that mounts next to the jack's hydraulic pump; and the necessary cables for connecting the receiver to the jack's existing wiring harness. The wireless control kit is compatible with all BMS jackplates and works independently from the boat's normal dash-mounted switch. It is available as a retrofit kit or as an option with new jacks. The kit's suggested retail price is $169.99. Contact Bob’s Machine Shop at 4314 Raleigh St. Tampa, FL 33619. Phone: 813-247-7040; Fax: 813-247-7041; info@bobsmachine.com; www.bobsmachine.com.

2009 ENGINE-MOUNTED LADDER MAKES RE-BOARDING EASY

Changing a prop or clearing weeds from the motor usually requires a trip overboard.  To make re-boarding easier, Bob's Machine Shop offers a new engine-mounted ladder that deploys with a pull of the pin.

The two-step ladder mounts directly on BMS's 8", 10", 12", and 14" jackplates, or for 4" and 6" jackplates over the motor's standard BIA bolt pattern with an optional mounting bracket.  It deploys through an oil-impregnated polymer bearing, which minimizes noise from boat vibration and eliminates binding in saltwater.  Rubberized rungs are used for comfort and traction.

Operation is easy.  A pull on the integrated, spring-loaded pin lowers the ladder for use.  When returned to the stowed position, the ladder re-locks into place.

Constructed of aircraft-grade aluminum, the ladder is offered in port- or starboard-side models.  It comes with easy-to-use instructions, including a mounting template.  BMS's limited lifetime warranty applies.

Suggested retail price is $199.  An optional mounting bracket for boats without jackplates is also available.
